Episode 7 - In and around Serre Chevalier

Having to much fun to sit down editing the winter!=P Now though it will be some edits from the end of our trip thrown out in short intervals before the summer are here for real!

In this episode we hang out in our friends place in Serre Chevalier, and doing some trips to nearby resorts Abries and Sestriere! Average french life with eating snails, drinking wine and shredding among the trees in what is pretty close to powder..

Unfortunately Sam was injuring his foot pretty bad among these days during one of our only photosessions and had to chill for a bit before leaving the eurotrip early and recover home in Sweden. Buuut after some days at home he still took the chance to go with our french friends in Pyat Crew for a trip to Finland to shoot urban stuff with the crew, filmers and a photographer. Way to go!!=D

More to come! Enjoy!=)

Caballo Loco

We had troubles to convert the material from our epic pow days of the first days back in France.
So we decided to make this edit first:

We got an invite to this competition from our new found friend Fredrik Schullström that is hanging out in Serre Chevalier.
We knew that it was going to be something with horses and a BBQ but we could never expect that it would be this crazy!

In a valley half an hour from civilisation, there was this horse ranch.
They had put up with a groundbreaking snowboard event were we were towed in by horses in a course with rails and jumps. Like wakeboarding!
All in a legit gipsy atmosphere with dogs running around averywhere, horse shit, hobo´s making up fire, a live mariachi band, flamenco girls and Zorro in real live person.

This was for sure the most extraordinary event we have been on and we are proud to say that Erik shreded home the first price of Caballo Loco 2011!

Sammy gets hurt

After St Moritz we followed the snowforecast with a reported dump back to Serre Chevalier in France. We managed to get a couple of days with freshies but then it got warm again and the snow became heavy. As one of the goals for this trip was to get some pictures taken we had been looking for potential spots to shoot. Close to Sestriere in Italy (where we had some good pow before) we had seen some old ruins that we thought would match up to our request.

This day it was blazing hot and as we cruised down in the forest on our way to the ruins we found this tube shaped barn. It smelled of Cows so I guess it´s their hangout in the summertime.
As it looked cool we decided to hit it for some pictures. A few tries with nosegrab tailtap i went for a miller flip over it. As the landing was just deep super heavy snow this was not a good idea. I got stuck with the board in the snow and my body was still rotating. Click, and i sprained my ankle. Which was worse than i thought at first as i ended up with a snapped of ligament and damage on the cartilage. Damn!

So it was chilling time and rehab for me after this with hopes of riding again as soon as possible. It sucks but it´s nothing to be frustrated over as it comes with the territory to get injured.

Episode 5 - St Moritz goes Engadine Snow Show

Back on track!
After staying with our friends in Serre Chevalier and shredding Vars for some days we turned our mobile home towards european luxary skimecca St. Moritz.
Dolce Gabanna, Luis Vitton, Rolex and all thinkable fancypants-brands had stores all over the place and the rich ladies with furs wraped around their neck seem to be a bigger group than the shredders there.=P
Anyhows, we were on spot to look for some pow and shred two competitions! Me(Erik) in the Engadine World Freeride Qualifier and Sam in the Engadine 4star TTR slopestyle.
We had a sick week with the first close-to-be powder turns of the trip and some fun comps where we both did alright!
I where loosing my line totally from what I thought I would take when watching it from the bottom. First time I got to pick a line from the bottom without walking in the face, freaking hard gotta say!=P But I made my way down dropping some smaller cliffs and not sitting on my ass anything, so I'm happy with my first comp in this way!
Sam where doing a really good qualification throwing some good lines in the slopestyle, but when it came to the finalday the wind was scetching it up making the speed bad for his tricky plans!
I placed 11th out of 29 and Sam 28 out of 50.
Now, check out our edit from St Moritz!=D

Next episode we shred pow near Serre Chevalier with swedish hiphoplegend Petter! Random gotta say!=P Stay tuned!

peace

Vars - the park!

Bonjour!
My french is getting pretty freaking amazing, gotta say.

When the snow wasn't showing up in Serre, we did some daytrips to french resort Vars for finding out if it really was France best park, as we been told from our french homies earlier on this trip.
And there we were for four supersweet days! The park was really killing it and we had a chat with the Arnaud de Bluye that runs the park about he's future plans for their park.
Arnaud was telling us how he during the last three years been building up this park from nearly nothing to what it is today, with around 80 kickers, rails and other jibfeatures. But he wont stop quite yet! This guy tells us plans of making Vars the next big thing on the Park-scene.. worldwide!

For our visit the lack of snow was putting sticks in the wheels(swedish expression..) for what was suppose to be 5 straight black kickers and alot of other snowfeatures that usually is up this time a year. But the loads and loads of rails and boxes got us more than happy for this time, and we are superstoked to get back here springtime to do some serious shredding!=)

Follow us and our new french friends through a lap from the top to the bottom of the mountain, in the three parks that are linked together!
boooyaka!
